Morning Becomes Eclectic | KCRW

Back in 2004, one of my all-time favorite artists, Rachael Yamagata, recorded a few songs on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic. I loved KCRW because of it.

But hello, it’s been 7 years! I had completely forgotten about the show until now. Although I have since then graduated high school and college, entered the working world, and gone on with my life, this show has changed very little. It is still showcasing some of the best artists out there and they are usually not very well known – which is particularly what makes it so good! They even had Rachael return for a second recording when she released her second LP in 2008. Below are some of my favorite recordings:

The Naked and Famous: Young Blood

Lykke Li: I Follow Rivers

Local Natives: Wide Eyes

The XX: Crystallized

Angus and Julia Stone: Big Jet Plane

Long live the love of all things indie.

I’m a little bit obsessed with Ellie Goulding right now. Although I first heard her name over a year ago when the Chiddy Bang remix of Under the Sheets was released, I didn’t really get a good listen of her full album, Lights, until this year. This is in part due to the fact that I had only listened to remixes of her songs that popped up on Now I can’t stop listening to it. It’s been a while since I’ve found an album of which I actually like every single song.

One of her less popular songs that I love: Animal

I want to fall in love with you
again and again, again, again, again…

You have stolen all my senses
There’s a fever in my heart
amd you are taking my defences
You are pulling me apart

And another, because they’re all so good: The Writer, Live at Metropolis

[Music] On Replay

I am absolutely loving HypeM right now.
These three songs get me through my day in just the right way.

William Fitzsimmons – So This is Goodbye (Pink Ganter Remix) [download]

Young The Giant – My Body [download]

Tokyo Police Club – Wait Up (Boots of Dagger) [download]

The RAC remix isn’t on youtube, but I like it better: [HypeM Link]

My full playlist:

Heal the World

I am happy I got to see him live once in my life.
R.I.P. Michael Jackson, King of Pop
August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009

I’m a snowfall kind of girl

I want a snowfall kind of love
The kind of love that quiets the world
I want a snowfall kind of love
Cause I’m a snowfall kind of girl

I’m not a big fan of youtube music videos with embedded lyrics, but this is the only one available of this song — I’m still searching for the mp3.

Snowfall kind of love – Ingrid Michaelson

the show that could have been..

It’s almost been two years now since I unintentionally missed their show in C’ville. It pains me to think about the day I found out it was sold out. Anyway, I WILL redeem myself one day.

Your Hand in Mine – Explosions in the Sky

Jack and Rose and Cat Power!

Not that I’m a huge Titanic fan or anything, but the reunion of Jack and Rose is coming this December in Revolutionary Road:

What a great trailer, and they chose a damn good song too (Cat Power – Sea of Love).
