“The Corn Refiners Association decided to ‘show’ high-fructose corn syrup was as safe as sugar. It’s no different than the Tobacco industry telling us nicotine isn’t addictive.
What they didn’t tell you is it’s banned in places like Canada and Europe. You can even buy sodas in Mexico without it in since they don’t have American lobbyists writing their laws.
If you can’t see that they are using the same tactics as the Tobacco Industry used in the past you are completely blind.”
(I am sad to admit that I contributed 5 hours of my time to temp for these people.)
List of foods containing HFCS here. Smart Start, Nutri-Grain Bars, and Pepperidge Farm 100% Whole Grain Breads were huge disappointments for me.
Also, if you haven’t heard already, Pepsi is doing a “throwback” campaign and will be selling cans with only REAL sugar! It’s only going to last from April 20 to June 13 though. All the food blogs are going crazy about it and you should too. Seeing as fatass America pretty much only sells sodas sweetened with HFCS, this is indeed exciting news. More info here.
